Heating for modules
Ceiling infrared panels for modules and containers
Economical radiant heating from the ceiling that takes up no space on the walls or floor. We fit our modules with Czech-made Namiwell infrared panels.

In a compact module every centimetre counts. That is why we increasingly fit garden houses, offices and residential modules with a ceiling infrared panel. It hangs on the ceiling, so the walls and floor stay free, and all it needs is a power supply — no boiler, chimney or heating pipes.
We work with the Czech manufacturer Namiwell, which develops and makes its panels in-house. Figures on efficiency, savings, warranty and the individual models below are taken from the manufacturer’s documentation.
How radiant heat works
Conventional heating, such as an electric convector, mainly warms the air. The warm air rises to the ceiling while it stays cooler near the floor. An infrared panel transfers heat mostly by radiation, much like the sun.
The radiation first warms the floor, walls and furnishings, which then release the heat evenly back into the room. The heat is spread more evenly and the room feels comfortable even at a slightly lower air temperature.
- More even temperature from floor to ceiling
- Less air movement and swirling dust
- No dried-out air feeling
- You feel the warmth within minutes of switching on
- Silent — no fans or pumps
Why it suits a module so well
Takes up no space
The panel sits on the ceiling, leaving the walls free for furniture, a kitchen unit and windows.
Warmer walls, less condensation
Radiation warms the walls, which according to the manufacturer limits moisture condensation and helps prevent mould.
Simple installation
All it needs is a power supply and a slot in the distribution board. Controls can be wireless, with no extra cabling.
Maintenance-free
No pumps, compressors or filters. An occasional dusting is enough; the manufacturer recommends checking the electrical parts roughly every two years.
Room by room
The temperature can be set separately in each room, depending on how you use it at the moment.
Grid or solar power
The panel runs on electricity you can buy from the grid or generate with your own solar panels.

Model overview
The panels are made in six sizes. In our projects so far we have fitted the NW2 model. The number and output of panels is always designed around the heat loss and use of the specific space.
| Model | Power | Dimensions (mm) | Weight | Approximate heated area | |||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| passive | low-energy | well insulated | poorly insulated | ||||
| NW1 | 335 W | 355 × 640 | 3.0 kg | 13 m² | 9 m² | 5 m² | 4 m² |
| NW2 / NW2U | 530 W | 593 × 593 / 320 × 1,142 | 4.5 kg | 21 m² | 14 m² | 8 m² | 6 m² |
| NW3 | 1,000 W | 640 × 950 | 8.9 kg | 40 m² | 27 m² | 16 m² | 11 m² |
| NW4 | 1,330 W | 640 × 1,250 | 11.9 kg | 53 m² | 35 m² | 21 m² | 15 m² |
| NW5 | 1,660 W | 640 × 1,550 | 14.7 kg | 66 m² | 44 m² | 27 m² | 19 m² |
| NW6 | 2,000 W | 640 × 1,850 | 17.7 kg | 80 m² | 53 m² | 32 m² | 23 m² |
Heated areas are the manufacturer’s approximate values for a 2.5 m ceiling and do not replace a proper design. Power ratings apply to the D series with DALYN™ technology; without it the maximum power is about 40% lower.

Controls and mounting
The panel is controlled by a thermostat. The manufacturer offers three levels:
Basic thermostat
A wireless room thermostat keeps the set temperature and switches the panel on and off by itself.
Programmable thermostat
A weekly schedule, day/night modes and an Optimum Start function that has the room warm at the right time.
Smart home
The Sinum system with control from a mobile app, remotely too. R-series panels have the controller and wireless communication built in.
In our modules we mount the panel on the ceiling — from there it radiates evenly across the whole room, furniture does not block it and the hot surface is out of normal reach. The manufacturer also offers recessed mounting in a suspended ceiling, hanging on cables, wall mounting or a mobile stand.

Infrared panel FAQ
Is an infrared panel just another electric convector?
No. A convector mainly heats the air and spreads heat by air movement. An infrared panel transfers heat mostly by radiation, which warms the floor, walls and furnishings. The heat is therefore spread more evenly through the room.
Is infrared radiation safe?
Yes. Infrared radiation is a natural part of our environment; we feel it as the warmth of the sun, for example. It is not ionising radiation, it is a transfer of heat.
Why mount the panel on the ceiling?
From the ceiling the panel radiates evenly across the whole room, furniture does not block it and the hot surface is out of normal reach. In a module it also takes up no space on the walls or floor.
Is it only warm directly under the panel?
No. The panel radiates into a wide area in front of its surface. In larger or more complex rooms the output is split between several smaller panels so that the heat is spread evenly.
What maintenance does an infrared panel need?
Practically none. The panel has no moving parts or filters; an occasional dusting is enough. The manufacturer recommends checking the electrical parts roughly every two years.
Does it make sense to combine it with solar panels?
Yes. The panel runs on electricity, so it can also use your own solar power, especially at the start and end of the heating season, when solar panels produce more and less heat is needed.
Does an infrared panel cool in summer?
No, the infrared panel is for heating only. For cooling we can also fit the module with air conditioning.
